Located near the newer Creekside development complete with its own Starbucks outpost, Nita may not be Whsitler's only waterfront hotel but for the meantime it's the very best. The Creekside base requires a bit of planning for accessing the main village, whether by car or on skis, but offers some of the areas newest neighborhoods and amenities. The style mixes Northwestern sensibility with modernized Alpine architecture translated through gabled ceilings, heavy stonework and enough crackling fireplaces to keep romance warm at minus-20 degrees. The in-house restaurant and lounge are located lakeside with outdoor patio heated throughout the year. An outdoor pool offers a splashy summertime scene of show-off sunbathers while during winter it doubles as a hot tub social scene complete with white-capped toddies and free hot chocolate.
The Room
The hotel is located on Nita Lake with 77 all-suite rooms equipped with kitchenettes, plasma-screen TVs and concierge service. Most rooms are built in a loft-style layout with divided living and sleeping spaces wedged between gas fireplaces that road summer and winter. Bathrooms are immaculate design spaces separated from the main bedroom from oversize shutter in order to share the lakefront views, with deep soaking tubs and intricate tile work that provide a rustic charm.
